Mix CD – Next up on the record . . .

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 - Music

The other day I decided that I was in the mood for rock music with only male singers. This is my result:

  1. Always – Saliva
  2. Be Like That – 3 Doors Down
  3. Better Than Me – Hinder
  4. Blurry – Puddle Of Mudd
  5. Bullet With Butterfly Wings – Smashing Pumpkins
  6. Get Stoned – Hinder
  7. Heartless – Hinder
  8. Here Without You – 3 Doors Down
  9. If Everyone Cared – Nickelback
  10. If I Were You – Hoobastank
  11. Just Like You – Three Days Grace
  12. Kryptonite – 3 Doors Down
  13. Nothin’ Good About Goodbye – Hinder
  14. The Reason – Hoobastank
  15. Second Chance – Shinedown
  16. She Hates Me – Puddle Of Mudd
  17. Slide – Goo Goo Dolls
  18. So I Need You – 3 Doors Down
  19. Stand Inside Your Love – Smashing Pumpkins
  20. Thing for You – Hinder
I have excuses:

I love 3 Doors Down, so it’s not really surprising that four of their songs made it on here.  I really love how their songs usually mean something.

I was surprised when Hinder showed up five times, though.  Granted, I really enjoy their songs, but it still shocked me that I chose four of their songs.  Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m dissapointed in some of the messages in the lyrics, but that doesn’t seem to bother me enough that I dislike the song.  For example, in “Thing For You,” he’s singing about sleeping with a girl who he likes in spite of her having “someone true.”  I could rant for a while about how lyrics like these contribute to the growing cultural acceptance of a lack of morals, but I won’t.  Not now, anyway.

Numbers seven, ten, and twenty were actually my reason for needing a new CD.  I had created a playlist in iTunes that included all songs from certain rock(ish) bands which means that I listened closesly to some songs that I had previously heard but not paid attention to.  Therefore, after hearing these songs and deciding that I really did like them (as I do all the songs I put on my CDs), I decided that I was in need of a new CD with only male singers.

My best friend says that “If Everyone Cared” by Nickelback is a hippy song, and he’s right to some extent, but I still like it.

Hmm, I guess that’s about all I have to say about the songs other than I think they’re all great and I really like them!
