New Theme

Thursday, August 26, 2010 - Site Plans

So, I’m trying out a new theme.

Obviously, right, I mean, that’s the title of the post!  :-p

Anyways, this theme isn’t “mine” like the previous one (and it’s variations) was.  This one was created by Tim Lappe of devolux.nh2.me* – WordPress resource.  So far, I like it.  It’s simple and looks nice, and it doesn’t seem to have any of the weird bugs that my theme (created in Artisteer) had.

I’m going to continue messing around with it (hopefully) over time because there are a few things that I don’t like.  For example, the way my title and tag line fall.  It’s supposed to be one line, but apparently it’s too long because the last word is pushed to a second line.  I’m going to have to go code diving at some point to fix some of those nit-picky things.

I already had to do that with the favicon.

I thought I was going to go nuts!  I’m grateful to Tim for making such a nice theme and then making it available for free with the rights to make the changes we want to his code, but he included his favicon from his website as the favicon for any site that installs his theme!

I know I don’t have the coolest, prettiest, or most creative favicon, but I like my black heart.  I actually updated my favicon a little bit to include my first and middle initials over a (slightly different) black heart.  :-D

Anyways, I’m pleased with the way it looks, the functionality that it offers, and the customization options that are available to me with some tweaking over time.  I’ve actually got several posts planned that I just haven’t gotten around to for various reasons that I’m hoping to get done over the next few days.  I’m hoping that having a more functional theme will entice me to post more often instead of trying to figure out ways to fix the mess of a theme that Artisteer enabled me to create!
