Motorcycles…

Motorcycles…

I hate them.  I don’t feel they should be allowed on the road with real vehicles.  They are a hazard driven (mostly) by idiots.

I hate those stupid things!  Get off the road, learn to drive a real vehicle, and stop acting like a dick!

Today, on three separate occasions during my very short drive I saw motorcycle drivers acting like morons.

First, on my way to work this morning, while I was going about five miles over the speed limit, a motorcycle sped between me and the vehicle next to me.  No, this isn’t a three lane road.  Merely a two-lane highway with a jackass “lane splitting” at at least 85mph based on my speed and how far away from us he was within a few seconds.

Then, during my lunch, when I didn’t even make it to a highway, I witnessed yet another jerk lane splitting at a stop light.

Yeah…  That’s not legal here, by the way.

Oh, and the third instance was on my way home from the bank.  There was a bit of traffic on the road, so even though the speed limit is 55mph, we were barely doing 45mph.  I happened to look into my rear-view mirror and see a motorcycle flying up behind me.  I can’t even give an estimate of the speed, but he was going so fast that by the time he pulled his head out of his ass and slammed on the brakes, his back tire lifted off the ground and he ended up at an angle.

I have to say, I was impressed that he didn’t hit the ground, and considering he wasn’t even wearing a helmet that’s probably a good thing.

I’m tired of seeing those ridiculous “watch for motorcycles” signs and stickers.  I follow the rules of the road (some speeding being my only exception) and I drive safely.  Provided that you are also driving safely in spite of the crotch rocket and no helmet, we won’t have any problems.

However, I’m not going to keep my eyes peeled specifically for motorcycles.  It is not my responsibility to ensure that you drive safely.  It is yours.  Reckless driving is still reckless driving even if you’re doing it on a motorcycle.  And it’s still against the law.  Lane splitting is against the law in Louisiana.  I would love to see the motorcycle cops doing something about the motorcycle idiots in this area.  Ticket/arrest enough of them and maybe they’ll fall in line!

In the meantime, though, I’m tempted to get one of these bumper stickers:
