Since I could hold my head up high.
And it’s been a while since I first saw you.
It’s been a little over a year since my last update to this site. In my defense, there’s been a lot going on. My main reason, though, is that I’m now divorced. I’ve done a lot of personal and private writing. Journaling, I suppose, but I deleted a good bit of it. Private writing meant that I wasn’t doing much of anything by way of reviews, posts, or anything that wasn’t simply a cathartic release of my depression and anger. It’s a good reason, though, right? Right.
Good news, though. I’m trying to get back to regular writing and reviews that I’m willing to share with the world. Luckily, or unluckily depending on your viewpoint, I have a series of posts in mind that will keep me quite busy for a few months. Inspired by R.J. Blain‘s play-by-play of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, I’m going to do a comparison read. We all know that Fifty Shades was originally a Twilight fanfic called Master of the Universe. Well, I managed to get my hands on the “original” fanfic and I’m going to read both stories at the same time and then subject you to the comparison reviews. I don’t know that my reviews will be anywhere near as awesome as R.J.’s are, but I’ll also be including links to her chapter reviews in my posts.
I think I’ll start posting the comparisons next Monday or so. For things like this I like to take handwritten notes while I read, so I’m going to get a few chapters ready before I start the posting. If it goes well, I might even do a comparison of The Draco Trilogy and The Mortal Instruments. Oh, didn’t you know that those books started as a fanfic, too? At least Mortal Instruments was a Harry Potter fanfic – a Dramione to be precise. Dramiones are my favorites!
Also, I’m not quite done with updating the look of the site. I haven’t been able to figure out how to remove the category list in the sidebar and it’s driving me nuts! I’m loving the new theme and the front page, especially, but that category list has got to go… I’m also planning to change that accent color. Any suggestions on how to make those changes are welcome because it’s not in the easy customize screen and I can’t seem to find it in the code. I’ll keep looking, though! No worries!
